I'm Jess Pearson, a holistic healing practitioner and film photographer. I was born in Palawan in the Philippines and now live in Auckland, New Zealand. For those drawn to astrology, I'm a Capricorn Sun and Rising, Pisces Moon, Sagittarius Venus, and Libra Midheaven.
Within my community, I serve as a sound therapist, Reiki master, tea ceremony facilitator, Tarot reader, and hypnobirthing teacher. I am also a bump, birth, and baby photographer specialising in capturing motherhood on film.
My work is rooted in holistic healing and the ceremonial arts. I believe that by honouring and preserving these ancient practices, we maintain our sacred connection to the earth, self, and source.
During my studies, I felt called to research my ancestry and discovered that before the Spanish colonised the Philippines, there existed an ancient tradition of female mystics known as the Babaylans. These women were shamans, bridging the spiritual and material worlds within their communities. Their roles included warrior, healer, priestess, and sage.
I also discovered that music was present in every stage of my ancestors' lives, from birth to death, in blissful or tragic times. This phenomenon explains why so many Filipino women I know are doing holistic healing work, especially within the realm of sound healing, including myself. It's in our blood. The deeper I embrace sound healing, the more connected to my ancestors I feel.
During my studies, I also came across the story of Alison Pearson, who shares my family surname and was accused of witchcraft in 16th-century Scotland. Alison was a healer from Fife who was known for her herbal remedies and for treating illness. She was later accused of witchcraft after claims of visions and encounters with the fairy court, themes deeply rooted in Scottish folklore at the time.
Alison was found guilty of witchcraft and was sentenced to death on 28 May 1588. Although I have not yet visited Scotland, more than 40 percent of my father's family heritage can be traced there. I feel a strong connection to the land, its folklore, and its ancient traditions, and look forward to visiting one day to deepen my connection with my lineage.
My path as a practitioner was shaped by my own experiences with anxiety, depression, and illness, which led me to explore holistic healing. As I navigated my healing journey, my intuition and psychic abilities slowly deepened. Each experience became a stepping stone, guiding me toward the work I now offer.
Additionally, my mother's experience with a traumatic birth and postpartum depression had a significant impact on my upbringing, ultimately guiding me towards supporting women through hypnobirthing and childbirth education.
Before becoming a holistic healing practitioner, I was a graphic designer for over a decade. I have a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design with Honours from Massey University and completed the Photography Intensive Course at Whitecliffe.
My studies began in 2021 with two sound healing trainings, first under Ali Young and later with Chase Trellert. I began my Reiki training in 2022 with Level 1 through Sophia Cataldo, progressing through Levels 2 and 3 with Olivia Scott, and completing Level 3B with Sophia Cataldo in 2025, qualifying me as a Reiki Master Teacher.
In 2025, I also completed the introduction to Cha Dao with Wu De of Global Tea Hut, deepening my connection to tea as a meditative and ceremonial practice. In 2026, I trained in hypnobirthing under Helen Bartrom from Positive Births, learning tools to help women approach birth with greater calm, trust, and confidence.
I am passionate about promoting nervous system regulation, emotional wellbeing, and creating spaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported.
Alongside this, I have a deep fascination with Celtic folk magic, divination, astrology, herbalism, and feminine archetypes, all of which naturally weave into my offerings.
I am also passionate about caring for the earth, and in my spare time I volunteer at a local urban farm, learning regenerative organic methods to nurture the land and grow nutrient-rich food.
"I have been to a number of sound baths held by Jess. She holds a beautiful, soft space which always feels very much heart-centred. I always find myself drifting off to the sounds from the resonant crystal bowls through to the gentle chimes, where time seems to stand still. Jess goes out of her way to make every person in the space feel at ease before, during and after the sound journey. Can’t recommend enough, truly nurturing to the soul." — Michelle

"I discovered the joy of Jess’s sound baths about three months ago. Each week I look forward to her classes as they are an absolute tonic for the nervous system. I come away feeling grounded, calm and refreshed. Jess is a kind, gentle soul and all her personal touches (sage cleansing, delightful chimes, and tea) make this an experience not to be missed. Absolute bliss!” — Erica
"I went to my first sound bath with Jess on Sunday. At first, my mind was racing, but once I allowed myself to relax and be open, I felt the vibrations move through my body. After the session, I had an emotional release but also felt a deep sense of peace, knowing it was just energy that needed to move. Thank you to Jess for creating such a calm, welcoming space. I’ll definitely be coming back." — Anika
