Chakras are energy centres in our bodies that influence our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Originating from ancient Indian texts called the Vedas, the chakra system consists of seven main chakras, each located along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head. These chakras vibrate at different frequencies and act as gateways, absorbing and releasing energy to support the flow of life force throughout the body. When a chakra becomes blocked or imbalanced, it can disrupt the body’s energy flow, often manifesting as physical or emotional ailments.
The seven main chakras are:
Root chakra (Muladhara)
Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana)
Solar plexus chakra (Manipura)
Heart chakra (Anahata)
Throat chakra (Vishuddha)
Third eye chakra (Ajna)
Crown chakra (Sahasrara)
Sound plays a vital role in healing and balancing the chakras. It has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic practices to restore harmony and reverse disease. One way sound healing supports the body is by activating the vagus nerve, helping regulate digestion, heart rate, and breathing. This helps signal the body to relax, promoting long-term improvements in mood, pain management, and overall well-being.
In my sessions, I use crystal singing bowls, each resonating at the frequency of a specific chakra. The sound created by these bowls, when played together, facilitates the movement of energy through the chakras, clearing blockages and promoting health. During my 1:1 sessions, I also incorporate certain crystals to further enhance the healing process. This combination of sound and energy offers a powerful defence against stress and disease, supporting healing and wellness.
The benefits of chakra healing through sound include improved intuition, enhanced creativity, reduced stress and anxiety, increased self-compassion, and boosted immunity. It also promotes a greater sense of calm, improved mood, and a deeper connection to our inner selves. Sound healing can also help align the chakras, providing a sense of centredness and emotional clarity.
